DIRECTIONS & ACTIVITIES

Villa Cambaras is easy to reach, 45 minutes from Nice International Airport.

France's second largest airport has direct flights from all over the world including many low cost flights.

Take the A8 motorway towards Cannes and Frejus, look out for exit 39 towards Fayence. Cambaras is 10 min passed a popular lake, Lac St Cassian.

When you are installed there is plenty to do:

Wining with our neighbour

The Domaine Grand Bastide, is our next door neighbour. Just walk down our little road to taste their rose (naturally, this is Provence!), merlot and chardonnay wines in the wine shop on the estate. There are literally hundreds of wine estates in the vicnity.  The Cotes de Provence "Route du Vin" is 10 minutes away by car. If you want to hone your French cuisine skills as well there is an excellent cooking academy in Sellians, 10 minutes away.

Michelin dining

There are two Michelin restaurants a brisk walk or cycle up the hill, plus many bars and up there in the lively village of Fayence  there is also a traditional Provencal market trice weekly during the summer, as well as many antique shops.

Prestine beaches 30 min away

Far from the madding crowds even in the summer months, you can still discover fine sandy beaches tucked away in the Esterel nature reserve, surrounded by steep cliffs, just 30 minutes from Cambaras.

The beautiful Lac St. Cassien, a popular waterspout and top fresh water angling spot, is just 10 minutes by car.  All the usual, like tennis, horse riding and cycling is also right on your door step. There are hundreds of kilometers of beautiful walks through villages or in the nature with lakes, mountains and forests in the area - a veritable heaven for the randonneur.

Close to Cannes many festival

Maybe you will head for one of Cote-d'Azur's many famous festivals, as the Juan-Les-Pen jazz festival in July. We had the enormous privilage to see BB King's, 86, last performance at the festival.

Cambaras is also the perfect spot for visitors to Cannes Film Festival, 30 min away, or various festivals along the Cote d'Azur.

Something is happening all the year around.  The Menton Orange and Lemon festival in January, the Nice carnival in February and Monaco, with its Grand Prix, in May. Fayence-Tourrettes hosts  a chamber music festival in October every year.

Meet the villagers

Cambaras is situated right between six medieval hilltop villages and we strongly recommend that you take time to discover them all. All the villages in the Canton de Fayence - Fayence, Tourrettes, Sellians, Callian & Montauroux  - live for their street parties, 'fetes' - as this one above in our own village Tourrettes (with the castle in the background and Cambaras below it).
In the summer the villages, all similar in style, have their own offerings, all in friendly competition. They alternate with vegetable markets, artisans markets, even pop and classical music concerts. Seillans is one of only three "Plus Beaux Villages de la France" in region. It is a spectacular example of a Provencal perched village. Steeped in history, its narrow, cobblestone streets, and ancient chapels seem touched by the passing of centuries.

Make your own perfume in Grasse

Pristine golfing

For the golfer, the 5 star Four Seasons/Terre Blanche with its two courses designed by David Leadbetter is 4 kms away, with literally dozens of more, not that expensive, courses with an hour and a half. Terre Blanche is fast becoming a must be place for the world's business elite, who seek privacy and are building their own villas behind the resort's securue walls.

Glide above Provence

A stone throw away, at the renouned Fayence-Tourrettes  International Centre for Gliding,  you can get up in the air with a trained glider and see this spectacular region from above, in the most quiet, birdlike way and for a very modest amount.

Adventure in Europes largest gorge

Gorges du Verdon, the world's second largest gorge, is 60 minutes away. The canyon is a Mecca for adventurers, trecking and nature lovers.

Alpine- and cross country skiing

In the opposite direction to the beaches are the ski resorts.  Alpine skiing is just over 1 hour away. The nearest ski resort is Greolieres Les Neiges (above, 22 slopes, 30 kms) but there are many more in the South Alps. All easy to get to, albeit you need to drive carefully along windy, narrow roads.

No need to go anywhere though. Cambaras, said one visitor, is like a film set with its large, private grounds, massive swimming pool and easy access. The property, which is very secluded yet close to everything, is ideal for entertaining - small weddings, anniversaries, big birthdays or garden and dancing parties. With marvelously easy access to party-loving villages and team building activities.
